Become a Social Innovator

1.      SO-IN Bootcamp  

After the selection process, you will enroll into a DT-Bootcamp, which gives you an introduction to Design Thinking. You will complete your first exercise and learn the basics of the process. This is a great way to experience the culture of the Social Innovation Academy and dive into the Design Thinking methodology to solve problems systemically.

2.      Global Sustainability Jam

Global Sustainability Jam (GSJ) is a global event providing a design-based platform to creative problem solving. YES Network is the GSJ-HK team representative and organizer of this public event.

Through the weekend, you will work together real-time for 48 hours to create innovative real-world solutions out of the same design challenge around the theme of sustainability. On Sunday at 5pm, your team will showcase the results to the world.

Embedded in our Social Innovation program, we intend to invite environmental advocates, NGOs’ representatives, design specialists, working professionals and students from our program to co-create innovative solutions.

3.      Social Design Challenge 

Social Design Challenge will provide you a cultivating environment for intensive multidisciplinary collaboration to apply Design thinking onto social design challenges of a “secret” theme.

Accumulating more experience, you will be able to acquire a systemic human-centered innovation skill to create solutions for social change

You will also recognize their ability to make an impact to the society

4.      SO-IN Masterclass 

SO-IN Masterclass is a 2-days event where world renowned Design Thinking Schools are invited to share their forefront knowledge in Design Thinking field. Interesting topics will be discussed and you will have a chance to experience their workshop first-hand.

The event is designed as open platform to public where NGO, social enterprise, business, government, academics, and students can join and learn about Design Thinking.

 

Social Business Acumen

1.      Social Enterprise Knowledge Exchange 

Social Enterprise Knowledge Exchange Workshop will be organized bi-weekly to facilitate your learning in current Social Enterprises. You will be equipped with social entrepreneurial mindsets and tools to critically evaluate performances of Social Enterprises.

2.      Social Enterprise Summit 2011 

Social Enterprise Summit is the most distinguished Social Enterprise event in Asia. The theme in 2011 is ‘Driving Social Change through Social Business and Impact Investing’.

Key activities of the Summit will include a two-day International Symposium, specially designed workshops for business sectors and young people, and an SE Fair mainly organized by the Government. At the Symposium, keynote speakers from U.S., U.K., Singapore and New Zealand will address on subjects of how Social Enterprises relate to social change.

3.      SE Speakers’ Series      

Leading global and local Social Entrepreneurs will be invited to give you a seminar on subjects of how Social Enterprises relate to social change. You can gain inspiration about the successful Social Entrepreneurs and the stories of their Social Enterprise.

 

Social Entrepreneurial Spirit

1.      SO-IN Incubation 

After 3 SO-IN Masterclass sessions, SO-IN Extreme, as a one-week intensive Design Thinking project will consolidate your learning and expertise in generating social innovation.

2.      SO-IN Conference 

After the SO-IN Extreme, all the teams’ solution will be presented to public in a conference. Numerous interested organizations such as NGO, social enterprises, government, academics, business, will be invited to conference to learn about Social Innovation and Design Thinking as well as witnessing the result of the teams.

Innovative, impactful and feasible solutions would be implemented with funding support.

3.      Consulting Projects 

After the SO-IN Conference, you can either continue to work on to improve your solution from SO-IN Extreme and spin off as YES Network projects.

Embark on a 6-week Consulting project with new YES Network partnering organizations. These projects are designed to allow you to further enhance you DT expertise by working on real projects as well as understand the operations of the Social Enterprises and other organizations.

4.      Project partners

Project partners are essential in our curriculum and play an important and active role in our student projects. Every project partner defines a design challenge combined with a description of the task.

In the Advanced Track in the second semester, each design challenge is processed in weeks by each multidisciplinary team from five to six students.
