SO-IN Bootcamp & Social Design Challenges
What?
Adopting Design Thinking * (see glossary in appendix), students will go through a human centered innovation process in our bootcamps to brush up their skills in solving problems systemically.
How?
We provide a cultivating environment for intensive multidisciplinary collaboration to apply Design thinking onto social design challenges of different themes.
Why?
- To engage students in cross-disciplinary collaboration and facilitate ideas and knowledge exchange
- To arouse students’ understanding towards real world social problems by gaining empathy of target groups
- Students will acquire a systemic human-centered innovation skill to create solutions for social change
- Students will recognize their ability to make an impact to the society

Global Sustainability Jam
What?
Global Sustainability Jam (GSJ) is a global event providing a design-based platform to creative problem solving. YES Network is the GSJ-HK team representative and co-organizer of this public event.
How?
People from diverse backgrounds form teams and meets at local locations from all over the globe –43 teams from 27 countries. Through the weekend, they work together real-time for 48 hours to create innovative real-world solutions out of the same design challenge around the theme of sustainability. On Sunday at 5pm, the team will showcase their results to the world.
Embedded in our Social Innovation program, we intend to invite environmental advocates, NGOs’ representatives, design specialists, working professionals and students from our program to co-create innovative solutions.
Why?
- Create an environment to capture students’ creative solutions through the fun and relaxed creation process
- Students will collaborate with people different civil sectors and expose them to the multiple thinking perspectives and facilitate ideas and knowledge exchange
- Students will exchange ideas globally, learn about other teams from all over the world
- Students will apply design thinking to generate social impact for sustainability and discover possibilities to carry out projects with environmental NGOs
